Logan

What better way to finish off a 'bonding' evening out with the staff from A&P than a trip to the local cinema? Well it seemed that only Jonathan and Andy agreed with me.. Although I'm not sure they agreed with my opinion of the movie (tomorrow will tell..)
This is the third movie in the Wolverine trilogy and is set several years into the future (2027 if I remember rightly..) Logan (Hugh Jackman) is now a battered and haggard old man, driving a limo to earn cash to look after an even more haggard Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart).
Then along comes a young girl in need of their help... closely followed by a truck load of expendable bad guys in need of impaling..
I enjoyed this one. And here's why..
Firstly it's a 15 certificate.. And the team in question have definitely taken advantage of this judging by the number of stab, slash and dicing occurring and the f-bombs were going off left, right and centre..
Secondly it wasn't your typical super hero movie. It was gritty and grubby. Logan looked like he'd had a hundred years off bullets and beatings.. Professor X looked like my poor old Grandad when he was alive (perhaps that's why I warmed to the movie?)
And thirdly there was emotion in it.. (And humour.. Not much, granted but enough for me.)
Hugh and Patrick made an interesting odd couple. And you genuinely felt that they cared for each other..
*** Plot Spoiler follows -
Everyone dies.. (pretty well) But when they do you genuinely felt upset.. Which is good ***

Overall I liked it ****
