Another Marvel movie, first of the year.
That is without a doubt the funniest Marvel movie to date..
I'm not sure where to start...
Ok, synopsis.. Ryan Reynolds plays Wade Wilson, the merc with the mouth, ex special forces (aren't they always?) who's diagnosed with terminal cancer of the everything..
He's then approached by a shadowy figure (chief alien in Galaxy Quest) who claims to be able to cure him.. So far, so clique.. Anyway, as expected it all goes tits north and he ends up being a superhuman with unlimited healing abilities, but a face like a smashed faggot.. (That's faggot the food.. not an American poof..) And off he goes on his merry revenge..
Actually that synopsis is not being very fair.. Granted the plot is 'back of a matchbox' lite but it's the execution that more than makes up for it.. The humor comes at you like a chain gun and keeping up with the gags takes some doing.. The fourth wall is broken... and then broken again.. and then commented on how it's broken.. Ryan Reynolds takes the piss out of EVERYTHING! Including Ryan Reynolds. As it's a 15 certificate there's no pandering to the kids. Both gore and language.. and it's a whole lot better for it...
I loved it. It was funnier that a lot of so-called comedies I've seen, and the action was well paced..
A definite **** movie.
