Star Wars :The Last Jedi (2nd viewing)

2nd Viewing and an improvement over the midnight showing (probably down to me be slightly more alert). Also I think I've established what my problem is with the film. It's too much CGi.. The Force Awakens was also CGi heavy but they blended it in better the model work and animatronics.. This film seems more like Star Wars episodes 1-3 than 4-6.

That's a minor gripe, its still good.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Round Two of tonight's outing..

It's 3 o'clock in the morning and I figured I might as well post a short review while I'm sat in the traffic trying to get out of Waitrose car park..
This film carries on pretty well straight after The Force Awakens. Ray's at Lukes place, Finns having his previous wounds attended to and Poe is still fighting the 1st Order..

When it comes to set pieces this film is full of 'em. At 2 hours 22 minutes I'd expect it.. There's humour and drama and the acting is perfectly fine. The special effects are outstanding (duh!?), but I think that may also be its problem.. This has all the ingredients that made The Force Awakens so watchable but for some reason it seems to lack something.. 

That's not to say I didn't enjoy it.. Just, not as much..

Still a cracking film though, and a well deserved ****.

3 Months before the film was released..
