Maze Runner:The Scorch Trials
I knew this was gonna happen.. It's been a while since I saw the first in the trilogy and together with Hunger Games (one, two and three:part 1) and Divergent (one and two) I was starting to suffer from 'Dystopian, Teenage, Angst Fatigue'..

American Ultra
This was definitely the better of the two films I saw this weekend.
Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart play a couple of stoners living a pointless existence in small town America. One day, whilst working at his dead end job in an empty petrol station, Jesse's character is approached by a lady who recites a phrase to him and thus unlocks the hidden, killer skills he unknowingly has.. And then it really kicks off..
I enjoyed this. Both Eisenberg and Stewart have a blast and being a 15 certificate gives it a certain punch (so to speak). It's got weapons, gore, comedy... comedy weapons.. all the ingredients required for an entertaining 96 minutes.. And after some of the 'meh' I've seen this was refreshing..
Overall an easy ****

No Escape
Meh..
Ended up in Cardiff early this weekend so I thought I'd try and get a film in.. I was a bit limited with the choices and ended up seeing this...
I'd seen Lake Bell recently in 'Man Up' and she was funny (plus put on a good English accent). I like Owen Wilson too.. He's another funny guy.. But here they're playing a married couple who've just relocated to a non-specific country on the Vietnamese border, and it's far from funny.. As soon as they arrive there's a revolution and an angry mob start slaughtering tourists, foreigners and generally anyone who looks at them funny..
I'm not quite sure what to make of this one.. Being a 15 certificate there was plenty of swearing and blood. Pierce Brosnan turns up as a ex-pat who has a shady past and is probably about the best thing in it in my opinion.. It does pick-up slightly half way through but seriously I think our two leads are mis-cast.
Overall its a **1/2 movie.. and those stars are down to Bond himself..
