The Lady In The Van

Graham was keen to see this one so I ditched Hunger Games:Mocking Jay Part 2 for another day..
This one was based on a true story. The author Alan Bennet takes pity on a 'van lady' who, much to the disapproval of some of his neighbours, has taken refuge in his local street.  He offers her temporary parking on his drive... and she end's up staying for 15 years..

This was an odd one.  Maggie Smith was excellent as the venomous Lady in question, while Alex Jennings does and good 'Alan Bennet'. The film has humour and emotion but for some reason I just wasn't sold.. It was entertaining but not my cup of tea..

Overall ***.

Spectre

He's back.
This is Daniel Craig's 4th incarnation as Bond (and some say final). Here he uncovers a secret, evil organisation (Spectre of the title) and seeks to bring it down..

This is one of my favorite 'Craig' Bond's so far (2nd to Casino Royal). After everyone gushed over Skyfall (and I didn't get it.. really) I wasn't expecting too much of this one.. As it happens though it was very good. The action set pieces were well choreographed and Daniel Craig has really set the bar high for the next Mr Bond.. Perhaps I need to re-watch Skyfall..
