Red

Yeah,  I know I've already seen this one but I fancied a bit of throw away fun..

Harry Potter and the Deathly hallows pt 1

I'm sat in Pret A Manager having just seen the latest Harry Potter offering. And on the whole I enjoyed it..  At what seemed like nearly 3 hours (146 mins to be exact) it wasn't a short film but it still had plenty of action.. It also had a much darker tone than the previous outings and was better for it. Harry Potter always came across as an untouchable character, immortal almost but in this film he appears more vulnerable.. if you know what I mean.

Another Year.

Arrived in Cardiff today in plenty of time and found myself at the cinema (as you do). I wasn't sure what to watch, either Jackass 3D, Skyline (again!) or Another Year. So I opted for Another Year.

Having never seen a Mike Leigh film before I wasn't sure what to expect.. As my current diet of movies generally consists of sci-fi, blockbusters or just through-away trash I was half expecting a car to come crashing through the window or someone to knife someone in the back for no apparent reason.. But no. It turned out to be a warm and generally affectionate film. Which I enjoyed..

Skyline

I was looking forward to this one. Haven't seen a good Alien invasion movie since Cloverfield... This is no Cloverfield. Although it borrows from both that and Independance Day I'd say it isn't as good as either of them. Yes, even Independance Day is better (slightly)..
Usually these days when I go to see a film I try not to analyse it too much and just enjoy the moment. And, initially it had potential.. But, as is the case in most of these types of films they have to go somewhere, and its usually downhill.. Don't get me wrong, the CGI was very good but towards the end it resembled Gears Of War.. only not nearly as much fun.. Overall its slightly better than the recent Resident Evil offering... slightly..

Due Date

I enjoyed this film. Yeah, I know its cliche'd and if you've seen only one road movie you'll know the outcome of it but, Zach Galifianakis is really funny.  I laughed out load on numerous occasions.. ***
