Kong: Skull Island

Ok... help me out here IMDb..
"A team of scientists explore an uncharted island in the Pacific, venturing into the domain of the mighty Kong, and must fight to escape a primal Eden."

Yeah, that's what I was going to say. It's another 'Liz working Saturday' (I ought to label that) and I'm at a lose end waiting for her to finish...
Who am I kidding... I was looking forward to this one. The trailer looked good and as it turned out the film wasn't bad either... Set in the early 1970's, just as the Vietnam War is coming to an end, John Goodman's character, Bill Randa (head scientist if you like) comments earlier on in the movie that "the USA will never be as unstable as it is now" (or words to that effect..) This made me laugh out loud.. There was quite a few joke like that, mainly from Hank Marlow (John C Reilly), a soldier trapped on the island since World War 2.

Generally I liked it.. I had a couple of gripes..
1.. The Kong Vs Monsters fight was good... it just wasn't as good as Peter Jacksons 2005 Kong Vs T-Rex battle..
and 2.. There was a reference to giant ants (they were heard..) but never appeared. What gives..? I was looking forward to them..

That's why I rated it ***1/2 and not ****. Otherwise a cracking installment to the Godzilla/Kong universe..
