Terminator Genisys

Ummm... Terminator 5, and another attempt to reinvigorate the franchise.
You could argue that this is the franchise that will not stop... ever.. Until you are dead.. This doesn't really carry on from the last movie but kind of jumps in somewhere in between the first two/three. If you haven't seen any of the previous movies good luck trying to understand this one! I struggled and I've see all the franchise (the first two numerous times)..
The trailer pretty much nailed this one. In other words it was rubbish.. They tried, give them their due. But in the end it really was hard work..
The effects were good.. But that's to be expected of a movie with the budget the size of a small country.
I'm not even gonna attempt to point out the failings... and there are many. Time travel is always tricky to portray successfully in movies..
I could go on but really can't be bothered..
Overall **1/2... it looks good..

Magic Mike XXL

It's Date Night! So, naturally I'm obliged to see a 'chick flick'. To be honest I'd see anything if it meant Liz would spend an evening with me..
Anyway, enough with the self pity, what about the film...?

This one picks up several years after the first Magic Mike and we find Mike (Channing Tatum) living his dream he talked about and making furniture.. Then he gets a call from one of his old stripper pals and ends up on the road with them, heading to a 'Stripper Convention' (?!?)... no more plot is required..

Well the general word in reviewing circles was that this film was rubbish.. And, as it turns out they were right..
Liz loved the first one and I enjoyed it too, what with my Channing Tatum man-crush. There were hints it was heading down the road to 'Pantsville' when I realised that not only had Matthew McConaughey and Alex Pettyfer jumped ship but also Stephen Soderbergh wasn't directing..
