Ok.. Here goes. This film is Martin Scorsese's latest. Based on the true story of Jordon Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his rise and fall as a Wall Street stock broker in the 80's and 90's...
Firstly the pros.. Both Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hills performances were very convincing. Also Margot Robbie acted way above her 23 years.. There's nudity and drug use aplenty (mostly at the same time) and at certain points I felt I should be sat in a booth with a box of tissues such was the level of sex..
Cons? The film was way too long. 3 hours?? This is not a Tolkien masterpiece. 2 hours would have been plenty.. Christ, an hour and a half would have been punchy and far more entertaining..
Don't get me wrong it had its moments. I laughed a few times and was generally amused.. But I looked at my phone a couple of times (at one point when it seemed near the end I checked the time, only to realise there was still an hour to go..)
Overall I wouldn't recommend it.. Even for the sex and drugs combo..
**1/2 (and that's for Margot Robbie who's one to watch out for. Her entrance reminded me of the worlds introduction to Cameron Diaz in The Mask..)
